Street Art of Penang
The most interesting scenes on the streets of Penang today is the street art of George Town.

Two of the most interesting art form that show the life in Penang are the Steel Rod Sculptures and Murals by Ernest Zacharevic

George Town Steel Rod Sculptures are by Sculpture At Work, a Kuala Lumpur-based company, which won the ‘Marking George Town — An Idea Competition for a Unesco World Heritage Site’ in April 2010.
The design was selected as the most cost effective, robust and requires less maintenance. Its design concept which is voices from the people will make George Town unique and more interesting to visitors, young and old.
Witty caricature sculptures are installed at the various buildings there of the historic enclave of George Town.
The company on 29 March, 2010, won the design idea competition organized by the Penang State Government on 7 September, 2009.

However, it was the murals by Ernest Zacharevic that have helped to position George Town as a showcase of street art.
Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic has changed the streets and buildings of Penang with beautiful and interesting wall painting of children all across the historical enclave of George Town. The 2012 George Town Festival commissioned Ernest Zacharevic to add his murals in the city.
