Recreation, Nature, Beaches and Sports

Penang is a paradise to sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Stay at the beach hotels in Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bunga or Teluk Bahang (see map of Penang) to enjoy the beaches and sea sports, from swimming to paragliding. For nature lovers, joggers and hikers, vast expanses of rainforests and parks such as the Botanical Gardens, Penang Hill and Muka Head are within easy reach of George Town. There are also ample parks and gardens for you to enjoy a morning stroll or a hike. Golf courses, bowling alleys, sports clubs are also to be found in the state. Penang has also a number of bowling centres.

Coffee shops - shops that are usually not air-conditioned but with wide open doors,  where you can get a drink or meal or rice or noodles - lunch dinner or supper. There are numerous coffee shops all over town. Some of the best hawker food in Penang are in these shops.
