• Travellers who require some medical care can private clinics which are run by qualified and registered doctors. All hospitals and public and private clinics practices western medicine. Private medical clinics are easy to locate or you can just ask a local. Public hospitals are usually crowded as they cater mainly to the lower income and civil service.
• For those who need special medical care, there are specialist centres or private hospitals in all major towns in Malaysia. Many doctors are trained overseas.
• Western medicine can be purchased at pharmacies in all major towns. Some medication may require a doctor's prescription.
• For those who favour Chinese medicine, Chinese drugstore or medical shops are also commonly found in many towns. However, few have a Chinese physicians.

• Always take your essential medication and prescriptions along, it many not be easily accessible outside the cities in Malaysia. If you need medication, there are doctor clinics, western pharmacies and Chinese drugstores.
• Those who fly, be sure to check safety regulation introduced in 2007 at all airports in Malaysia and Singapore. Some bottled item may not be taken into the plane as hand luggage.
