Kueh Malaysia You can buy an assortment of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Nonya (Nyonya), Thai and western cakes in the streets, shops, bakery or cake houses all over Malaysia. Typical Malaysian cakes are called kueh (or kuih) and are prepared mainly by the Malays and Chinese. Local kuih are steamed (not baked) or fried. Most are made from rice, rice flour, wheat flour, beans or tapioca or sago. These kueh are sold at roadside stalls, markets and even served at restaurants or hotels.
