Preschool Education Most parents in Malaysia send their children to private preschools which have to be registered with the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Preschool kids are below the age of six and most kindergardens take in children from age three to six years old.
Malaysia kindergardens Preschool is not compulsory but almost all children living in urban areas attend preschools which is often referred to as kindergartens or Tadika/ tabika (in Malay). There are state (government) run preschools (by KEMAS) which provide affordable pre-schooling to those lower income groups in some states of Malaysia. Private preschools or kindergatens can be found in every town but all must be registerd with the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The medium of instructions in public (KEMAS) preschools is Bahasa Malaysia (Malay Language) with English as a subject. Privately run preschools conduct classes in either one or more of these languages - English, Malay or Chinese. Private-owned kindergardens normally operate 3 progammes - nursery for 3-yr old and below, and 2 years kindergardens classes for 4 to 6 year olds.
